About Me

I'm Gregory K. Adkins—a writer, educator, and endurance athlete with a passion for helping others thrive in life’s second half. My path to writing was forged over three decades of leading in education and sharpened through personal commitment to health, wellness, and personal growth.

Before I became a health and wellness writer, I served as Superintendent of the School District of Lee County, overseeing 118 schools, 96,000 students, and a $1.6 billion budget. Throughout my career, I've worked in every corner of public education—from classroom science teacher to district executive—and taught graduate courses in education and public policy. I hold a doctorate in Educational Leadership with a minor in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Central Florida.

My interest in fitness isn’t just academic. As a three-time Ironman triathlete and lifelong endurance athlete, I understand firsthand the challenges and rewards of training, aging, and staying consistent—especially after setbacks. In my 60s, I continue to train hard, lift heavy, and explore the evolving science of metabolic health, cardiovascular fitness, and longevity.

Now retired from public education, I focus on writing articles and blogs related to fitness, health, and wellness—especially for adults over 50. I also offer research-informed writing and consulting in the fields of health, fitness and education. Whether I'm crafting a feature article, supporting an organization with its research and messaging, or guiding a reader toward their best health, my mission is the same: to empower people through clarity, evidence, and purpose.
